required to produce responses using fluent speech, pronunciation, stress and
incorrect intonation. There are five
speaking item types in the PTE test. These are: - read aloud, repeat sentence,
describe image, re-tell lecture and answer a short question. The duration of the speaking section is 30-35

·
Read the text before microphone
starts- The test
takers will get 30-40 seconds before the microphone starts. Candidates can use this time to read the text
and get prepared about what they are going to listen. This is a good strategy to quickly go through
the text before the microphone starts working.
·
Focus is the key- Always read carefully. Because your
response will be based on what you read and understand. In case you read and
misunderstood the question wrong, you will end up answering the questions
incorrectly. Therefore, in the first place, it is extremely important not to
lose your concentration and understand the question properly.
·
Speak at a normal pace- Most of the test takers have a
misconception that speaking quickly will bring them higher score on the
speaking section. This is not the case. You should always speak at a normal
pace as it will make you sound clear. If you speak quickly, either you may not
be understandable to the speaker or may miss out essential information. Therefore,
it may get difficult to score your response. To score higher, always speak slowly,
clearly and confidently.
·
Keep Speaking- Odds are there you may make an error
while you are speaking. Even if you make a mistake, do not try to go back to
correct you rather continue speaking. If you stop speaking, the microphone will
discontinue recording after 3 seconds of silence.
